The Troupe
Upstart Crow Theatre Group is an independent not-for-profit theatre company, operating out of Toronto since 1995. We are dedicated to producing challenging, thought-provoking pieces that will be entertaining for our members and audience. We are also committed to providing an interactive ensemble environment for learning and understanding the entire production process, including stagecraft, technical support, producing and marketing.
Upstart Crow believes in and uses the ensemble method, whereby we try to foster a positive communal interaction amongst a family of artists and our audiences and each artist contributes his/her talent and energy to all aspects of the production. We define an artist in any field as follows: someone who works with their hands is a Labourer, someone who works with their hands and their mind is a Craftsman, and someone who works with their hands, mind, and heart is an Artist.
